Keyword Research for SEO
Tuesday, August 15th, 2006I was browsing around the Google labs the other day and I discovered something interesting. Apparently Google provides information on search trend. You can type up to five words in the search box and then it will produce a relative graph for you. For example, here is a Google Trends search for good and evil.
Most of you are probably familiar with the Keyword Selector Tool provided by Overture which gives you numbers according to the keyword that you would like to research. This is a great tool because you can be sure to target keywords that will actually do you some good. The Google Trends tool got me excited because it seems faster and allows you to type in multiple keywords. And, of course, it provided a look into the largest search engine. Unfortunately, it has a drawback that makes it much less useful–if doesn’t provide numbers. The relative information is great but it would be great if Google provided some sort of scale. I expect that Google is unlikely to do because of their reputation for guarding the privacy of their users.
