Not So Much Flash, No “Click to Enter”
Thursday, October 5th, 2006Not a Big Fan of Flash
I’m not saying that I have never used flash, but overall I’m not a big fan of flash being the only media on the page. I consider it icing on the cake but not the cake. That’s why I love this post on SEOmoz about flash splash pages and how to convince clients to not use them.
Click to Enter = Bad
The article also brings up the occasional occurrence of the “Click to Enter” that people have on their home page. I realize that they have this portal to their content so that they can then open up a window that has no browser bars and so that the window is just the right size, but come on people! How annoying would you be on Christmas morning if you tore off the wrapping paper of a long awaited present, open the box, and there was yet another obstacle in the way of getting what you want. It’s not good. Believe me. I use to wrap my siblings presents in several layers of strings and duct tape. It was a great joke but ruined the experience. Just give people what they want.
