Presenting to Executives
I am presenting to the CEO and two VPs of Omniture tomorrow. Presenting to executives is very different than presenting to a fellow Internet marketer or to other audiences. The wins and the losses are usually bigger. Because of the kind of power they have, they can say “Yes” to a lot of money, or they can say “No” and then you have no money.
I know a VP of a large company and I asked him (in the bathroom of all places, or his “second sales office” as he referred to it) what he would recommend I should keep in mind while presenting. Here are some of those things:
- Answer the question: How can I make money?
- Provide a plan for implementation
- Keep it simple. Talk in a way that someone can understand it without knowing all the details
- Don’t be a Jacka**. No one likes it when someone talks down to them, especially executives.
- Be confident. Delivering with confidence will increase your credibility
- Don’t present something you don’t have the answers to. If they start asking questions then you better have answers
So, with that in mind, here it goes…
