Munich Lion
Here is the picture that I used for the main page and as a general theme throughout willeitner.org. I took this picture in Munich, Germany. This lion was one of two that overlooked a small square in front of The Residence. After taking this picture we went to The Residence and looked at all of the antiques that were on display.
I liked The Residence in Munich because it was a self guided tour. It was a nice way to get learn about the things I was interested in and skip all of the boring stuff that a guide would most likely be required to talk about. They provided a gizmo that you could carry with you, punch the number in of whatever you were looking at, and then it would play a recording about what it was that you were looking at.
To adjust this picture for willeitner.org I changed the background to gray scale and made it more opaque, changed the contrast of the lion, and I placed a slight glow around the lion.

Lovely picture. It is one of two lions actually situated at one of the most famous squares in Munich. The Odeanplatz is the square where all SS soilders swore loyalty to Hitler and was also the scene of the famous Munich Pursh where Hitler led the revolution which started the Nazi Pary. Several men were killed and a plaque to comemorate the event actually lies in the pavement just in front of the left hand lion.
